LinkedIn Posting: Is 'In Progress' good enough? 🧐

Hey everyone! 👋 I wanted to kick off a discussion about something I've been pondering lately: LinkedIn job applications and the dreaded 'In Progress' status. We've all been there, right? You apply for a job, feel great about it, and then...radio silence, except for that constant 'In Progress' notification on LinkedIn. So, what does 'In Progress' *really* mean? Does it mean a human has looked at your application? Does it mean it's made it through the initial screening? Or is it just a placeholder while the system sorts through hundreds of applications? 🤖 I'm curious to hear your experiences and insights. Have you ever actually received an interview after your application sat in 'In Progress' for a significant amount of time? What strategies do you use to follow up on applications? Do you connect with the recruiter directly, or is that considered too aggressive? 😬 More broadly, how much weight should we give to LinkedIn's application status updates? Is it a reliable indicator of our chances, or should we focus our energy on other networking and job search strategies? I'd love to hear your thoughts, tips, and even some success stories (or cautionary tales!) Let's help each other navigate the often-opaque world of online job applications! Share your wisdom and let's learn from each other! 💖 (Source: https://www.notion.so/2a4c3e1bfc58810ea010d2874f899eed)

"In Progress" is the black hole of job apps! 🕳️ I think it usually means it *made* it past the initial bot screening. Following up politely (email/LinkedIn message) after a couple weeks is okay. But don't put all your eggs in that basket. Networking and direct outreach are always key! 👍 Good luck everyone!
