Forced Learning vs. Passion Projects: Which fuels your career more? 🤔
Hey everyone! 👋
I came across an interesting thought today: "Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion obtains…" It got me thinking about how we approach learning in our careers and how that impacts our growth.
So often, we're pressured to learn specific skills or technologies to stay relevant or meet job requirements. This 'forced learning' can feel like a slog, but it's undeniably important for career progression. On the other hand, there's the learning we pursue out of pure passion – side projects, online courses in areas we're genuinely curious about. These passion projects might not have immediate, tangible benefits for our current job, but they can unlock unexpected opportunities and lead to significant long-term growth.
Which type of learning do you find more effective in your career? Do you prioritize staying up-to-date with industry demands or investing in your personal interests? Maybe it's a balance of both? ⚖️
I'm curious to hear your experiences and insights. Have you ever landed a job or advanced in your career because of a skill you learned out of passion? Or conversely, has mastering a 'must-have' skill opened doors you never expected? Let's share some stories and tips! 📚💡
What strategies do you use to balance the need for 'forced learning' with the desire to pursue your passions? I'd love to get some tips and tricks from all of you on making the most of your learning journey. 🚀
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
